There is only a short period of time each year it looks like this in Point Dume, with yellow Daisies everywhere. It’s incredible beautiful, don’t you think? The Point Dume loop is short but scenic and goes around the dume in a spiral and ends on top of it with stunning views of everything pretty. Point Dume is for me, the most perfect spot in Malibu. People has horses, donkeys or goats in their backyards… it feels very “country” that way. And then there is this beach down there, the long stretch that goes all the way to Paradise Cove in low tide. So by doing the loop and taking the straits down to the beach to Paradise Cove and back, you for yourself a pretty nice workout!

Fullkomligt njuter av tystnaden och lugnet högt uppe i Topanga Canyon. Jag får aldrig nog av magiska solnedgångar som den här.

Prärier, trollskogar och omättliga vyer av Stilla havet är sammanfattningen av den här UNDERBARA hike jag av en slump hittade när jag råkade svänga fel på en slingrig väg i bergen. Det blev dock ingen hike den gången. Vill inte hika själv i skallerormssäsong, så mycket.

Meadows and endless ocean views are the words for this fantastic hike I accidentally ran into one day while driving around in the canyons. I didn’t end up doing the hike that day though. Don’t wanna hike by myself around all the rattles this time a year.

Mot trollskogen…

A hike that looks like this can never be boring. 

Vi är alltid noga med att hålla Olive on trail. Hon har nu lärt sig vad “stay on trail” betyder ifall hon viker av mot nåt intressant, oftast bara små prassliga ödlor men man vet ju aldrig. Det är ju “the wilderness” trots allt. Efter den lummiga trollskogen kommer man ut till det här…

After a while the trail takes you out here and you have amazing views of the ocean for most parts of the hike. 

En klar dar ser man Channel Islands. Öarna utanför Ventura och Santa Barbara.

Channel Islands are out there on a clear day. 

Vi tänkte ta en om möjligt ännu snyggare väg tillbaka genom dalen OM det inte hade varit för den svarta skallerormen jag nästan trampade på. Tillräckligt läbbigt för att inte gå förbi den, om ni förstår?

After several hours we decided to take the even longer route back, until I realized I almost stepped on a large black rattle. We turned the other direction, if you know what I mean?

Så vi rundade av och gick (fort) tillbaka över prärien.

So we turned around over the meadow and walked back, fast. 

Inte en enda levande själ syntes till. Så öde och vackert.
