Gjelina

Diptic I bild: Hörnet Abbot och Millwood – En utsökt tallrik med grilled asparagus, mustard greens, crispy egg and pancetta vinaigrette  – Thai snapper with lime caviar, blood orange, horseradish and chive – Mätta middagsgäster.

I love everything about Gjelina. It has always been my first choice in Venice. Nothing can ever go wrong with fresh local ingredients and a creative and fun menu that changes after what’s in season. Look at the greens grilled asparagus with the crispy egg, how good? And the thai snapper sashimi? I know! It’s great that they have a take away with at least some of the stuff ready to go.

Welcome to Californication…

… a healthier take on life.

Thanks so much for visiting my page here at Vavawoom. It’s going to be a lot of fun being surrounded by all these amazing and inspiring people from all over the world. My name is Marita Karlson and I live in Venice, CA. I’v been here for almost 8 years now… time flies when you have fun, they say. I spend most of my time here on the westside and up and down the southern Cali coast – and there are a few good reasons for that.

The healthy eateries – I am really spoiled in Venice. There are many fabulous raw food places and juice bars I like. I also cook a lot and I make smoothies all the time. Delicious smoothies and nourishing juices and other easy recipes preferably with greens and veggies from local sources. I’m gonna share all that with you and of course great restaurants in the Venice, SM and Malibu area. This is lovely Los Angeles after all, where many health trends are born and I’m here to give you trend reports from the health world and body&mind. I hope you will like it.

Farmers market

The easy access to the farms  –  L.A. is where the “farm to table” concept is super hot and I adore that stuff – the farm life.  Just look at this picture and imagine yourself sitting there waiting for the chef to bring you the food she picked from this ranch just moments ago. Farm dinner season is coming up.

“Nothing is better than waking up early and hit the trails”

The beaches  – after 8 years its almost devastating to think about not living by a beach, the fresh salty air does so good for me. The mountains – easy escape to my favorite canyons. Nothing is better than waking up early and hit the trails. If there is a waterfall involved, bingo! Here, in the canyons above Malibu and Topanga is where most of my “hidden gems” are hiding out, places so far away from busy freeways as it can get. Yes, I’m totally gonna share them with you… in both english and swedish.
