Johanna Ljunggren, founder of Detox life, is a yoga teacher and chef, creating food as beautiful to look at as to taste. With her recent book release and Instagram flow she invites us to discover how to live a healthy and diverse life with colourful images of food for all senses and reflective thoughts about life. An inspiring women on how to create inner and outer beauty with a life full of food and new perspectives.

How did you become interested in plant based food?

I have always been interested in food, flavours and tastes. I have lived all over the world and my parents always encouraged us to try what was offered locally. Through my yoga practice I came across this new way of treating plant based products.  I was fascinated by the way it was presented. All the methods used to keep it as close to its natural state.  Having said that I also love twisting it up a bit but without destroying the essence. That´s why I made the psychedelic glass. Lets call it distorted beauty.

How do you stay healthy?

By not thinking of health. I don´t do yoga or eat a certain way for my physical health, I do it for my mental state.
So whether I choose to eat plant based or pizza, drink green juice or wine. Practice yoga or share a long meal with my loved ones it´s for the same reason.
To find a way to live life and love.

What are your best beauty tips?

Eat good produce, drink lots of water. Water is the most exclusive beverage in the world and it works wonders.
Find products that are made of natural ingredients that are easily absorbed by the skin and hair. I wash my face with almond soap. Use Birch recovery face oil or the C serum and moisturiser. Once a week I do a lava mask with rose water. I wash my hair twice a week but use a bit of conditioner after every shower or bath.

How do you find balance in life?

To put it into writing it would be to find the balance you need to live your life and forget your age. Then your always open to learn. One thing I try to think about is something someone told me. “Jo you won’t find your true creativity in the highs or lows of living. There you´re either to euphoric or to depressed to really find what you seek. Your true creativity you´ll find in everyday life. That is the one you should focus on.” When I think of that I calm down and smile because I realise how easy it is and how hard we make it.
